BUSICK ON THE SWAMP FOX

Friend, former classmate and Theosebes reader Dr. Sean Busick is quoted on 'The Swamp Fox'--Francis Marion of South Carolina--in the latest Smithsonian magazine. Congratulations, Sean!

Funny, the guy in the painting doesn't look a thing like Mel.

I tend to think the worst offense The Patriot committed was being nearly unwatchable, though, aside from the powerful ambush scene early on. Then again, I'm no historian. :)

My favorite parts of The Patriot are the parts that accurately portray how people interacted in that time ... Like the Africans who work Mel's farm out of the goodness of their hearts and the young woman who stands up in the middle of the church assembly and rebukes all the men in the room. They really captured the essence of colonial America!
