In honor of UCLA's championship game appearance tonight one ought to read Dan Wetzel's column, "Everyone loves a winner":
"If the UCLA teams of the late 1960s and early 1970s were subjected to the kind of scrutiny (other schools) have been, UCLA would probably have to forfeit about eight national championships and be on probation for the next 100 years."
Read the whole thing.

Well, I guess Billy Donovan cheated better than Howland did (and he also out-coached him)since UCLA failed to take home their 12th illegitimate title.
I picked Florida to win when I filled out my brackets through a combination of conference loyalty and sheer revulsion at choosing Duke or North Carolina or UConn (I'm begining to dislike them) or UCLA or several other teams on my "should never win another title" list.
I did not know about these allegations concerning UCLA. As a UK fan - it makes me feel a little angry that favoritism was shown. As a WKU alum it makes me mad.
Cheating is wrong - no matter who does it (yes even UK). If it is a fact that people cheated for UCLA they should vacate some or all of their championships. Since Ohio State had to take down a Final Four banner recently - why the hold up on others?
Thanks Alan.
